Anemia

  • Anaemia is a serious global public health problem that particularly affects young children and pregnant women.
  • WHO estimates that 42% of children less than 5 years of age and 40% of pregnant women worldwide are anaemic.

Vitamin D deficiency

  • Vitamin D is a nutrient you need for good health. It helps your body absorb calcium, one of the main building blocks for strong bones. Together with calcium, vitamin D helps protect you from developing osteoporosis, a disease that thins and weakens the bones and makes them more likely to break
  • Patients at high risk of vtiamin D deficiency are : patients with osteoporosis, patients with a malabsorption syndrome, obese persons (body mass index >30 kg/m2), patients with disorders that affect the metabolism of vitamin D and phosphate (eg, chronic kidney disease)
