- Although the most common symptom of a stomach ulcer is a burning pain in the centre of the abdomen. Not all stomach ulcers are painful. Some people experience: indigestion, heartburn, nausea (feeling sick)
- Risk factors for silent or asymptomatic peptic ulcer include old age, male sex, current smoking, H. pylori infection, and absence of atrophic gastritis.
- Asymptomatic peptic ulcer can present with unheralded perforation or bleeding.
- Heartburn is the most common symptom of GERD.
- While GERD is not life threatening, it can greatly lower your quality of life by impacting your daily activities, your sleep and what you are able to eat.
